TRAINING UPS AND GENERATOR SYSTEM AT ONCOLOGY HOSSPITAL 2

The combination of UPS and generators in large buildings for power supply has become the optimal solution, ensuring power supply. always available 24/7 for activities in the building. True to the increasing demand for electricity in buildings while the reliability of the national power system is increasingly reduced due to the deterioration of infrastructure, the most feasible solution currently in buildings is That house is a combination of UPS system and generator system.

UPS (full name is Uninterruptible Power Supply), also known as uninterruptible power supply, acts as an effective backup power source, operating continuously to keep electrical systems and equipment uninterrupted when there is a problem from the power grid. Meanwhile, a generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy according to the principle of electromagnetic induction. Mechanical energy can be a steam turbine, an internal combustion engine with oil, a water turbine, a wind turbine, etc. or other sources of mechanical energy. In addition, the generator also performs the following three functions: generation, voltage correction, and rectification

If only using the UPS system, we can protect electrical equipment systems from power outages in a short time. But the UPS system will also stop working when the battery is depleted. Increasing the number or capacity of the battery only prolongs the time within a certain limit. Therefore, it is not enough to only use UPS to maintain power in large buildings, especially when the power failure lasts for a long time.

On the contrary, if we only use the generator, it takes a fixed amount of time to start the machine and during that time, the power system will be interrupted. But once started, the generator will supply power for no time limit.

Therefore, if these two advantages are combined, it will ensure that the power supply is provided 24/7, helping the electrical systems and equipment to operate continuously. Under normal conditions, the generator will not work, the device is powered from the mains through the UPS system. When the power goes out, the UPS system works to protect systems and equipment from being interrupted. After a fixed period of time (usually the technical department will configure it from 3 to 10 seconds), the generator will receive a power failure signal and start. Power from the UPS battery will power the load during this time. When the generator is stable, the UPS will draw power from the generator to continue to power the load and fully charge the battery. When the mains power is restored and stable, the power supply to the equipment is transferred from the generator back to the mains without affecting the operation of the equipment thanks to the protection of the UPS system again.

For hospitals, maintaining stable and continuous operating systems and equipment is an important and necessary job in medical examination and treatment. Therefore, at the beginning of June, the Chief Engineer of Sicom Construction Investment Joint Stock Company at the project Oncology Hospital 2 held a training session on the operation, maintenance and repair of the UPS system. and transmitter. The training session not only had the participation of technical staff at the project but also key technical staff of Oncology Hospital.
