ICU là gì?

ICU stands for Intensive Care Unit. This is a special facility in a hospital dedicated to the treatment, providing special care and life support drugs to patients with serious injury or illness. The ICU offices that take care of the most seriously injured or life-threatening patients need to be continuously and closely monitored by a team of specialist doctors and nurses. This team is trained in the care of critically or seriously injured patients. Patients can be referred directly in the ICU from the emergency department if requested. It is usually done if the patient's condition worsens continuously.

- The ICU room is an active resuscitation room, equipped with much different medical equipments such as:

• Breathing Machine
• Dialysis machine
• External pacemaker
• Needles
• Infusion pump
• Electrocardiogram (Electrocardiogram)
• Defibrillator
• Anesthesia machine
• Warm blood
• Follow up with the patient
• Feeding tubes, straws, ...

ICU also has a dedicated staff of physiotherapists, respiratory therapists, anesthesiologists and pharmacists, ...

• Serious heart problems like heart attack, extremely low blood pressure.
• Problems in the respiratory system caused by asthma or complicated pneumonia.
• These accidents require major surgery and immediate action.
• The patient is in a coma.
• Liver problems and kidney failure requiring dialysis.
